2026 BUYER GUIDE

Parcel Cost Planner

International shipping is commonly based on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Plan with packed dimensions rather than adding product weights alone.

Collect the inputs

Understand volumetric weight

A carrier calculates volumetric weight by multiplying parcel length, width and height and dividing by its route-specific divisor. Use centimetres and the divisor published for the selected route. Bulky shoes, winter jackets and rigid boxes can be charged above their scale weight.

Plan before submission

Compare several eligible routes using the same packed estimate. Rehearsal packaging can provide a more realistic size and weight. Removing unnecessary retail boxes may reduce volume, but it can also reduce protection or resale value, so make that choice deliberately.

Estimate, not a quoteFinal cost can change after the warehouse packs and measures the parcel. Exchange rates, fuel charges, remote-area fees and customs decisions may also affect the total.

Parcel questions

Why is chargeable weight higher than scale weight?

The parcel may be billed by volumetric weight because it occupies more transport space than its physical weight suggests.

Is one large parcel always cheaper?

No. Route limits, volumetric size, risk concentration and customs considerations can make splitting preferable in some cases.
